No. You do not need to be fluent in Spanish to use the program with your child. Clear parent guidance shows you what to do, while native-speaker audio provides reliable Spanish models for listening and interaction. You can learn alongside your child while creating meaningful opportunities to hear and use Spanish together.
That's okay. We don't expect children to repeat words on demand in order to participate.Children can show understanding in many ways, by listening, looking, pointing, choosing, moving, gesturing, vocalizing, or responding with language when they're ready.Instead of focusing on repetition, keep providing meaningful and consistent exposure to Spanish through play, conversation, stories, movement, and everyday experiences. Continue modeling the language naturally and creating opportunities for your child to understand, respond, and gradually use more Spanish over time.
That's wonderful! Children can begin the program with different levels of Spanish experience. The Explorer, Adventurer, and Discoverer levels allow children to engage with the same experiences at increasing levels of language complexity. A child may begin by using words and short phrases, while another is ready for complete sentences, added details, and more connected language.Because the program builds language cumulatively and revisits it in new contexts, children can strengthen what they already know while continuing to expand how they understand and use Spanish.
Yes. Discovering My World in Spanish™ is designed for approximately ages 1–6, and families can adapt the same experiences to different language abilities. The Explorer, Adventurer, and Discoverer levels represent increasing language support and complexity—not specific ages or grades. One child might participate with words and short phrases, while another uses complete sentences, adds details, or connects ideas. This makes it possible for siblings to explore the same topic together while participating at an appropriate language level.
The child's learning experience is designed to be screen-free and parent-guided. Children learn through conversation, play, movement, stories, creativity, hands-on exploration, and everyday experiences.Digital tools are used primarily to support the parent and provide convenient access to guidance, audio, and program resources. Technology supports the experience rather than becoming the experience.
The program is flexible, but helping a child develop another language does take time and intentional effort. You do not need to complete every experience or follow a perfect schedule. What matters most is providing meaningful and consistent exposure to Spanish and creating regular opportunities for your child to understand, interact, and communicate. Each lesson gives you several ways to do that, so you can choose what works for your child's interests, developmental level, and your family's schedule. In general, the more progress you hope to see, the more intentional and consistent you will need to be with Spanish. Neve Spanish Academy gives you the structure, language, and experiences but you decide how much to incorporate into your family's life.
Neve Spanish Academy uses Latin American Spanish, with natural, everyday language designed to help children understand and communicate in meaningful situations.Spanish varies across the 20+ countries where it is spoken, with differences in vocabulary, expressions, and pronunciation. For that reason, I have been very intentional about choosing words and phrases that are widely understood across the Spanish-speaking world, rather than relying heavily on vocabulary that is specific to one country or region. As children grow, they will naturally encounter different accents and regional ways of saying things, and that is part of learning a living language. Neve Spanish Academy gives them a strong, broadly understood foundation while helping them learn to communicate, not simply memorize isolated vocabulary.
Each unit of Discovering My World in Spanish™ includes 12 connected lessons with the guidance and resources you need to explore them together.Depending on the unit and where you are in the journey, this can include Weekly Explorer Maps, Communication Experiences, native-speaker audio, printable activities and games, communication and interactive resources, Explorer Missions, the Explorer Passport, Family Magazine, and special resources that unlock as your child progresses.Everything is designed to work together as part of one connected learning experience—not as a collection of unrelated printables.
No. Discovering My World in Spanish™ is a digital program, so nothing will be shipped to your home.Your program materials are accessed online and include printable resources that you can print at home or through a local printing service. Many experiences also use simple materials you may already have around the house. This allows you to access your program without waiting for a package and reprint resources when needed.
Every child's language journey is different. How much Spanish your child understands and uses will depend on many factors, including their previous exposure, how consistently they experience Spanish, and the opportunities they have to use it.Neve Spanish Academy is designed to help children move beyond simply recognizing or repeating Spanish words. Through meaningful and consistent exposure, children have opportunities to build understanding, respond to Spanish, use words and phrases, and gradually develop more connected language as they are ready. But the learning goes beyond Spanish. As children explore their bodies, emotions, routines, communities, nature, and the wider world, they are also building knowledge, making connections, solving problems, moving, creating, and thinking. These experiences can create opportunities for deeper learning and conversation beyond the program, including in your family's home language.Language development takes time. You may notice understanding before you hear your child independently using much Spanish, and that matters too. The goal is to build a strong foundation for meaningful communication while giving children rich experiences to explore, understand, and talk about their world.
